John Denham, the Labour MP for Southampton Itchen, is to visit Peartree House, in Peartree Avenue on Friday 15th June. Peartree House is a rehabilitation facility for people who have suffered
from an acquired brain injury. The residents asked John Denham to come and see some of the difficulties they encounter in the area.
Among their concerns they listed:
• “We like to walk on Peartree Green but find the amount of litter and dogs’ mess off-putting especially when it gets on the wheels of wheelchairs.”
• “We find crossing Sholing Road difficult because of the speed people travel and because of blind spots.”
• “What can be done about the poor state of the public toilets in Bitterne and Woolston?”
John Denham “I’m hoping to walk in these areas with the people affected and look at the problems from their point of view. I hope that I can then influence the City Council to take some
action to address the problems.”
