Southampton Itchen Labour MP John Denham has said he is disappointed with the plans for the former New College site off The Avenue.  He said “The plans show a fairly small amount of family housing for the site.  This is an important site for the city.  It’s not often that this much land becomes available close to the city centre and it’s a pity that not much will be available for families.  I believe that the city council needs to develop better policies for this sort of site.”

The plans submitted to the Council include 19 houses and 204 flats plus office buildings.
