   Listening Panel on childcare

The Labour Government wants all families with children aged up to 14 should have access ro affordable, flexible and high-quality childcare from 8:00am to 6:00pm if they want it. This could be provided through a local extended school or, for younger children, through nurseries and SureStart.

All schools should become extended schools by 2010. Southampton City Council has received nearly £1 million to fund extended schools for 2007/8 ans so far 27 Southampton schools have worked really hard to offer extended services including breakfast clubsm out-of-hours tuition and after school clubs in sport, music and drama.

Could you spare a few minutes to take part in a discussion forum? If enough people are interested, I'll hold a meeting on the subject.
